How to Use
A+BÒ Epoxy
Putty Products
Using and mixing A + B epoxy putty is very easy. It is much easier
to mix several smaller quantities together than a large amount.
Prior to mixing the putty, we suggest you clean off any loose
debris, grease, oil, gasoline, rust, or dirt. Greasy or oily type
substances should be cleaned with a suitable solvent prior to
bonding. If you are using the putty in a pool, spa or pond repair,
clean off any loose materials, algae or slimy substances from the
surface. Sanding or roughing up the surface will help improve the
putty's ability to form a tight bond. Our putty products cure
underwater!
Gloves are recommended for mixing and molding the putty products. Be
sure to remove any jewelry or rings from your hands.
Simply cut off equal parts of the A and B bars using the ruler on
the paper holder as a guide.
Allow for approximately 30 + minutes work time on the regular set
putty, 9900, 9904 and 9906. These products will begin to set in
about 1 hour from the time that mixing is complete.
Our fast set putty, 9901, has a work time of about 5 - 10 minutes
after mixing is completed.
Putty that is cold or below 70F will be harder to mix because it is
stiffer and will take a little longer to set. Putty that is above
90F will be easier to mix because it is softer, but it and will have
a shorter work life and will set in a shorter amount of time. Expect
a steel hard cure overnight with the regular set putty and in about
3 - 5 hours with the fast set putty.
Knead and roll the putty in your hands or on a clean working surface
for approximately four or five minutes. We suggest rolling it out so
it approximates the shape of a cord or rope, then fold it in half
and twist it together. Knead the putty back into a ball and repeat
the process until the putty becomes one uniform color. This is
probably the quickest and easiest way to mix epoxy putty. Make sure
there are no color streaks visible.
Press, shape or mold the putty to the surface that you are
repairing.
A + B epoxy products respond well to the use of water when
smoothing, shaping, or molding. You will be able to obtain a very
smooth surface when smoothed with water.
Clean all tools, reusable gloves or any objects with soap and warm
water immediately after use. The adhesion of these products is quite
excellent and they will bond to almost anything. These products
become quite difficult to remove after setting and especially after
curing.
After curing the epoxy putty can be sanded, drilled, routed,
screwed, chiseled, surfaced, tapped, sawn, tapped, turned, filed,
carved, stained or painted. A + B products are resistance to heat,
cold, and most fuels, most common chemicals and solvents or caustic
agents. A + B will not shrink.

bond. Greasy or oily type substances should be cleaned with a
